Letter #67, 2021, Sun., July 25: The Way

The Codex Ephraemi Rescriptus, a Greek manuscript of the Bible from the 400s A.D, is a palimpsest. A palimpsest is a manuscript (may be vellum or parchment) that has been written on, then the text has been scraped and soaped off, then a new text is written on top of the first one, but, with great care — and modern technology — the original text may sometimes still be read underneath the later, visible one

    Behind him, in the Square, stand his older brother and older sister, Georg and Maria. Both have gone on before him to the Lord. I do not know the date of the picture.
