The May 24th weekend! This is the unofficial start of summer. What will be notable about this summer? COVID and its variants continues to mark our waking and sleeping hours. But, really, can’t we take a break from that for a weekend? We all deserve a break. Let’s use dear old Queen Victoria as an excuse for a break.
One of the ironies of Canadian life is that a woman who was generally seen as miserable and dour should be the namesake for a significant long weekend in the country, a weekend marked by celebrations and fireworks. It’s dubious that Victoria would be a good guest at your cottage.
