I chose a fortuitous day to begin this article about being a COVID Intern. It is on this day in Red Deer, a stone’s throw from St. Mary’s parish, that I begin a mandatory 14-day stint of self- isolation because I attended a meeting with someone who tested positive.

This year has been a strange one, we can all attest to that. Yet, you still might be wondering, what is it like to do an internship during the age of COVID- 19?

Albertans have been blessed to have the possibility of attending the Holy Mass during the majority of the pandemic. I know that my brother interns in Saskatchewan and Manitoba have suffered greatly because all public celebrations have been cancelled at one time or another for months on end.
