Rome Newsroom, Mar 26, 2021 / 02:00 pm (CNA).- The postulator for the canonization cause of Bl. Aloysius Stepinac has responded to claims by the new Serbian Orthodox patriarch that there are “problematic” passages in the cardinal’s letters to Venerable Pius XII.
Porfirije, the patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, who was installed in Belgrade in February, said in an interview that he is in possession of some letters Stepinac sent to Pope Pius XII.
Msgr. Juraj Batleja, Stepinac’s postulator, responded to Porfirije’s statement that some passages in the letters are problematic, saying that theologians and historians have already judged Stepinac’s letters to Pius XII as containing nothing “against Christian faith and morality.”
