The Edmonton Archdiocese has set aside time to honour St. Joseph, its patron, as part of a yearlong celebration worldwide.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church, Pope Francis announced that the Church would celebrate a special year dedicated to St. Joseph beginning on December 8, 2020 and continuing through December 8, 2021.

In a Dec. 8 apostolic letter, Patris Corde (“With a father’s heart”), the pope said Christians can discover in St. Joseph, who often goes unnoticed, “an intercessor, a support and a guide in times of trouble.”
