Arlington diocese seeks 150 new teachers as Catholic school wait list grows

Arlington, Va., Mar 16, 2021 / 09:10 pm (CNA).- Catholic schools in Virginia’s Diocese of Arlington are open for in-person instruction, and finding demand to be so high that 150 more teachers are needed.

School officials say there is strong evidence that in-person schooling can be done safely, as long as proper protocols are followed, and children benefit from an in-person learning environment.

“Everyone agrees that learning takes place best done in person. And that’s simply just thinking in an academic sense,” Dr. Joseph Vorbach, superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Arlington, told the Sinclair Broadcasting Group television news show The National Desk.

Achel no long a Trappist beer, after last monks depart abbey

Hasselt, Belgium, Mar 16, 2021 / 08:01 pm (CNA).- After the last monks left Achel Abbey earlier this year, the beers produced at Achel Brewery no longer bear the Trappist label.

In the beginning of January, there were 14 authentic Trappist beer brands. By the end of the month, the Trappist Belgium breweries were reduced by one.

Eight of the Trappist breweries are located in Austria, the UK, Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands, and the United States. The remaining breweries were in Belgium: Westmalle, Westvleteren, Orval, Rochefort, Chimay, and the former Achel, which is now closed.
