Pope Francis urged the faithful gathered to pray the noonday Angelus today in St. Peter’s Square to take the day’s gospel – the parable of the talents from the Gospel of Matthew – to heart.
“This parable applies to everyone but, as always, to Christians in particular,” the Holy Father said. “Today too, it is very topical: today is the Day of the Poor, where the Church tells us Christians: ‘Extend a hand to the poor. Reach out a hand to the poor. You are not alone in life: there are people who need you’.”
