Roman Rite and Ambrosian Rite – Solemnity of All Saints and Commemoration of the Faithful Departed (All Souls) – Year A – November 1 and November 2, 2020
Introduction
The month of November begins with the feast of All Saints that is immediately followed by the Commemoration of All Souls. It should not seem strange that these two celebrations come one after the other because they have one thing in common: they open us to the afterlife and strengthen our faith in the resurrection. If we did not believe in a life after death, it would be useless to celebrate the feast of the Saints and going to the cemetery would be a simple sentimentality. Whom would we go to visit and why would we light candles or bring flowers?
