Today we celebrate the beautiful Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord (Matthew 17:1 +) when Jesus took Peter, James and John up a high mountain and they witnessed his transfiguration. Scripture tells us his “face shone like the sun” and “his clothes became white as light.”
Just imagine yourself on that mountain, seeing what they saw. Jesus was also joined on the mountain by Moses and Elijah—the giver of the law and a great prophet. Their appearance is no small event. God the Father spoke, telling Peter, James and John that Jesus is his beloved Son and that they should listen to him.
His divinity was confirmed for them on that glorious day. The three apostles were so moved by all of this that they simply fell prostrate. What else could you do after witnessing such a sight?
