This 4th of July, 1P5 Needs You!

For Americans, 4th of July Weekend is a time to get together with family and friends, mindful of the gratitude we have for the liberties our country has afforded us.

This year, though, things are different. With ongoing coronavirus-related shutdowns and restrictions, safety concerns due to riots and other related activity, and a country divided and on edge, nothing feels the same. Even municipal fireworks displays, a time-honored tradition for this holiday, have been cancelled in a number places. It seems that the spark of liberty is dwindling dangerously.

Many are feeling the emotional and spiritual toll of a world in chaos. Rather than a festive tone, there is an air of solemnity. It’s a time not just for gratitude for the blessings we’ve long enjoyed, but for reflection on what we may be losing — things we may have taken for granted — if we’re not very careful.

Praise the Lord
