Cardinal Charles Bo of Yangon, Myanmar, is appealing for prayers, as he warns the new National Security Law imposed on Hong Kong by China could seriously threaten human freedoms and human rights.
The President of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) underscored this in his July 1, 2020, message provided to ZENIT English, on the “Law of the People’s Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.”
Recalling that the government of China just imposed a new national security law for Hong Kong, he stressed: “This was done without systematic consultation with the general public.”
