At Vatican News we see that a miracle was approved for Bl. Charles de Foucauld, Apostles to the Muslims. This will lead to his canonization.
Also of interest is the miracle approved for Ven. Pauline-Marie Jaricot, foundress of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and the Living Rosary Association. In years past on this blog I have suggested to readers to ask her intercession for miracles for her cause. For example, when now-Fr. Philip Johnson was fighting his brain cancer, I proposed her. This is good news. They perhaps changed the Roman promoter. He did little to nothing. So, this is a pleasant surprise! I thought her cause was in a coma.
Of a lot of interest to many is the recognition of a miracle through the intercession of Ven. Michael McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus. This cause has always surprised me while not surprising me at all. Firstly, the KofC have a lot of clout and it is understandable that they wanted their pious founder to be canonized. However, McGivney left such a thin record of his thoughts, interior life, through texts that the case built for his heroic life of virtue was well-constructed but very thin. We have hardly anything that he wrote or said. And if memory serves, a sermon that he gave is recounted only second hand. In any event, it seems that Fr. McGivney will now be beatified.
