Originally scheduled for 7 April 2020, the enthronement of the Most Reverend Kenneth Nowakowski as Eparch for the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of the Holy Family of London was moved forward to 21 March 2020, to respect restrictions to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus. The local Latin Ordinary, His Eminence Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster, was invited to preside at the ceremony in place of the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk, who was unable to attend due to the travel restrictions. Bishop Nowakowski served as the Ukrainian Eparchial Bishop of New Westminster (British Columbia) from 2007 to 2020. As a member of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) he served on the Episcopal Commission for Christian Unity, Religious Relations with the Jews, and Interfaith Dialogue (2011-2014), as well as on the CCCB Standing Committee for Development and Peace (2014-2020).
