Pope Francis on July 24, 2018, sent his condolences and prayers to the victims of flooding after the collapse of a hydroelectric dam in southeast Laos. The Pope’s sentiments came in a telegram sent to local authorities on his behalf by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
According to local media reports, hundreds of people are missing and as many as 6,000 may have been left homeless.
