Mos Cantandi, Mos Amandi

Some time ago I was rummaging around in an antique store, which is where I get many of my books for next to nothing, and happened upon a nineteenth-century book called Carmina Princetoniana, that is, The Songs of Princeton. It might have been a missive from another universe. Princeton was my alma mater, which phrase now means, for most people and most places, no more than that there I received my bachelor ‘s degree. As for its being a fostering mother, in whose honor I would want to sing, well, that’s another story.
