Fasting and Mercy

Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness;
in the greatness of your compassion wipe out my offense.
Thoroughly wash me from my guilt
and of my sin cleanse me.
Psalm 51
God’s mercy is always available and ready whenever we need it. As God is merciful, so we should be merciful and forgiving: “In Jesus crucified, God shows his desire to draw near to sinners, however far they may have strayed from him. In this way he hopes to soften the hardened heart of his Bride.”
This is where fasting can truly be a work of mercy (pray for the living and the dead).

Praise the Lord
