Pope Francis to lead the recitation of the Rosary at the end of May, the month dedicated to Mary
Some years ago, I posted a series of entries here wherein I looked at the mysteries of the Rosary through some quotations by Fathers of the Church. Here is what I wrote about the Annunciation._________Because October is dedicated in a special way to the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, during the month I, as a dedicated patristiblogger, will work my way through the Mysteries of the Rosary offering some comments from the Fathers of the Church.

Those Miraculous Beads March 25th, 2013 Written by: Gregory Watson “Among all the devotions approved by the Church none has been so favoured by so many miracles as the devotion of the Most Holy Rosary.” — Pope Pius IX Artist: Gregory Watson Seven years ago, when my wife and I first got married, we moved into an apartment building downtown.

This coming 40 Days for Life vigil, let’s try the 54 Day Miracle Rosary Novena to Our Lady. Our church history reveals to us that on March 3, 1884, Our Lady of Pompeii appeared before the gravely ill daughter of an Italian military officer. Through her, Our Lady gave the world the miraculous devotion of the 54 days Rosary Novena….”The devotion in this novena combines three things which are dear to God in a very remarkable scheme; frequent communion, the practice of the virtues, and devotion to Mary in the Rosary

For many years now, I have “mined” the Holy Gospels, as given to us by the Church in the Sacred Liturgy, following the cycle of feasts and seasons, and found therein a rich sequence of Mystery-Events suited to meditation and contemplation in the sublime and simple prayer of the Rosary. Those who recite a third of the Rosary sometimes assign the various mysteries to particular days: joyful (Monday and Thursday), sorrowful (Tuesday and Friday), glorious (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday).Where this system is rigidly adhere to, conflict can arise between the content of the mysteries and that of the Liturgy of the day: the recitation of the sorrowful mysteries on Christmas day, should it fall on a Friday. In cases such as this it can be reckoned that “the liturgical character of a given day takes precedence over the usual assignment of a mystery of the Rosary to a given day; the Rosary is such that, on particular days, it can appropriately substitute meditation on a mystery so as to harmonize this pious practice with the liturgical season”(242)

VATICAN CITY, October 8 (CNA/EWTN News) .- Pope Benedict XVI is suggesting that families and parishes rediscover the prayer of the Rosary in the Year of Faith, which begins later this week.“With the Rosary, we allow ourselves to be guided by Mary, model of faith, in meditating on the mysteries of Christ, and day after day we are helped to assimilate the Gospel, so that it shapes all our lives,” the Pope said Oct. 7 in his Sunday Angelus comments. The Rosary, which comes from the Latin for “garland of roses,” is a traditional Marian prayer that involves meditating on the episodes of Christ’s life, ranging from his incarnation and birth to his death and resurrection.Speaking on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, Pope Benedict recalled how his predecessor Blessed John Paul II promoted the Rosary in his 2002 apostolic letter “Rosarium Virginis Mariae.”“I invite you to pray the Rosary personally, in the family and in the community, learning at the school of Mary, which leads us to Christ, the living center of our faith,” Pope Benedict told pilgrims in St.
