Killing in the Name of God is Blasphemy

Comments from this morning’s mass at St. Martha House…“Doing good” is a principle that unites all humanity beyond the diversity of ideologies and religions…The root of this possibility of doing good – that we all have – is in creation

A PopeTrip To the "’School’ of Charity"

For everything he’s placed aside, apparently the Pope’s settled on a new piece of regalia….Just kidding, of course – the garland seen above was a welcoming gift from the Missionaries of Charity, whose shelter and soup-kitchen within the Vatican walls got a Francis-visit last night (and, perhaps, some take-home food for a pontiff suddenly deprived of a place where he can cook).During his stop at the “Gift of Mary” house, the pontiff gave his now-trademark “three words,” taking aim yet again at “a wild capitalism [which] has taught the logic of profit at all cost, of giving to get, of exploitation without looking at the persons… and we see the results in the crisis we are living!”By contrast, “an open hospitality is lived here, without distinctions of nationality or religion, according to the teaching of Jesus,” Francis said.”We must recover the whole sense of gift, of gratuitousness, of solidarity.”Currently marking 25 years since John Paul II called the community founded by Blessed Teresa of Calcutta to establish it, the house feeds 60 people a day in addition to providing overnight space for 25 women in need.-30-

TO you, Jesus,Through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,I offer you my day and my entire being. To look at only that which you want me to see;To listen to only that which you wish me to hear;To speak only that which you want me to say;To love only that which you wish me to love.Knowing that aside from you I can do nothing,But with you, I can do all things,I entrust my past, present, and futureTo you, Jesus……my Lord, my God, my life, my breath, my all.—m.m.  Click here to Unsubscribe or Subscribe to this Journal

2013-05-20 Vatican Radio (Vatican Radio) Courageous, humble and strong prayer can accomplish miracles: this was Pope Francis’ message at morning Mass in Casa Santa Marta. Emer McCarthy reports: The Pope was commenting on Monday’s Gospel passage which recounts the disciples failure to heal a child; Jesus himself must intervene and laments the disbelief of those present.

2013-05-19 Vatican Radio (Vatican Radio) Pope Francis puts his certainty of faith down to his grandmother, from whom he first heard the Christian proclamation; to a life changing encounter with Christ at age 17, through a unknown priest who heard his Confession; to his daily praying of the Rosary to his ‘Mother’, Our Lady and to allowing himself to be held in God’s gaze even when he nods off after a tiring day, while in prayer before the Tabernacle.

“And Lighten Our Understanding….” “In the exercise of my ministry as the Successor of Peter, I have come to America to confirm you, my brothers and sisters, in the faith of the Apostles. I have come to proclaim anew, as Peter proclaimed on the day of Pentecost, that Jesus Christ is Lord and Messiah, risen from the dead, seated in glory at the right hand of the Father, and established as judge of the living and the dead
