On Saturday, I dropped by to help welcome the young pro-lifers who had worked from British Columbia to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre, proclaiming by their march their commitment to the Gospel of Life.
I have been informed that some of the walkers, after a short celebration at St. Theresa's Church following the rally on Parliament Hill, addressed the faithful briefly at the close of Mass at some diocesan parishes this weekend. Here are some photos of the welcome party and their arrival:
It was an early initiative of Archbishop Thomas Collins to invite the Sisters of Life to Toronto.
They were founded in 1991 by the late John Cardinal O'Connor, Archbishop of New York. The Sisters of Life is a contemplative and active religious community of women for the protection and enhancement of the sacredness of every human life. In addition to the traditional religious vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, the Sisters of Life take a fourth vow; "to protect and enhance the sacredness of human life."
The Sisters of Life have recently opened a new centre to serve pregnant women vulnerable to the pressures of abortion. The Sisters of Life Centre is located at the former St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 1099 Danforth Avenue, Toronto (between Donlands and Greenwood). The Sisters provide support and assistance to women who are pregnant and in need. They also train the lay faithful to serve alongside the Sisters as Co-Workers of Life. On Saturday, 12 June at 1:00pm, Archbishop Collins will offer the opening Mass and Blessing of the Centre, which will be followed by an open house. If you would like more information or if you would like to refer a women who is pregnant to the Sisters of Life please call us at: (416) 463-2722

Your Walk this summer will help you be more of a prophet as your vocation and ca... 25.08.10 00:13 By Fr. John Tritschler
Some Historic Churches of Québec Last month I decided to drive north from Connecticut to Montreal to say a few prayers at St Joseph Oratory, but along the way stopped at several other rich Catholic heritage sites in the province of Quebec. I was stunned at the beauty and history. Every Catholic in North America has been shaped by t... 20.08.10 13:35 By Bob Mullen

The Pope and the Press Finally some perspective on the whole issue! It may be that God is cleaning house but certainly Pope Benedict XVI is the right man for the right time. 08.04.10 21:45 By Jane Wutz
Canadian Jesuits in Jamaica It is great to see the Holy Spirit moving young men to give of themselves for the kingdom. It is an inspiration for me in my hum-drum day in Scarborough to do more. 06.04.10 15:43 By Jake Smithers
Pope Benedict apologises for Irish priests' s... Dear Lord... give us the strength to keep moving forward and for all of society to examine its conscience. Certainly, there is more to uncover in the church and throughout all levels of society. The heart is frail and the body so fickle. May we be as honest and this vicar in 'total reform' of oursel... 10.12.09 11:05 By Anonymous
