A fitting celebration for Our Lady
OTTAWA – It was the gift to beat all gifts.
To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday and to mark the 70th anniversary of Canada being consecrated to the Blessed Virgin, Canada’s three cardinals led the nation’s bishops in a ceremony Sept. 26 to re-consecrate the nation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
“In a way, what can the Church offer the country on this 150th anniversary?” asked Bishop Douglas Crosby. “There’s nothing more beautiful than the prayer of consecration to Our Lady. I’m very happy about it.”
