Independence Day: a good time to revist its message

Today the United States celebrates, Independence Day, also called the Fouth of July. The thirteen American colonies, back in 1776, adopted the Declaration of Independence to delcare their separation from Great Britain. It has become too easy for present day Americans to just think of it as a day to go to a ball game, see the fireworks, have a parade, make a political speech, attend a concert, have a barbecue and get together with family.
