Persecuted Iraqi Christians Arriving in Ottawa
Posted on July 7th, 2012 by Squeaker in Religious Persecution
St. Patrick’s Basilica in Ottawa has sponsored an Iraqi Christian family that was facing severe persecution in Baghdad. With the help of the Government of Canada, the family will be arriving in Ottawa later this month.
The parish has already raised funds to support the family as they start their new life. But they could use a few volunteers who will help the family integrate into Canadian society. The family is composed of a husband and wife, along with three children under the age of 10.
If you’d like to learn more about volunteering, there will be a meeting this Monday, July 9, at 7 pm in the basement of St. Patrick’s (corner of Kent and Nepean). You can also call the parish office at 613-233-1125
