Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith publishes norms for the discernment of presumed apparitions

The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith recently published its “Norms regarding the manner of proceeding in the discernment of presumed apparitions or revelations”. The document had been approved by Pope Paul VI and issued by the Congregation in 1978.  As it was principally intended to assist the pastors of the Church, it had not been made public at the time. The published version of the document is accompanied with a preface by Cardinal William Joseph Levada, Prefect of the Congregation,
