One of the oldest Ukraine’s religious magazines “Missionar” marks its 115th anniversary on 1 May. On this occasion, its directors decided to make the edition more modern and introduce an electronic version thereof. The new web page of the magazine is www.misionar.info. According to the editors, the internet edition is a religious and cultural periodical with no equivalents in Ukraine. The project is aimed not just at mere reproduction of the past but also an attempt to create a new reality.
“In the modern world, where an increasing number of people prefer the internet, it was decided to create an electronic version of the edition and thereby connect the pre-war numbers of the magazine with the periodical restored 20 years ago,” noted the directors of the magazine.
The publishers of the Missionar promised that the information contents of the site will be the same as the printed version. However, it will be supplemented with new columns which are to reflect the historic past through the prism of time, in particular, a chapter “Retro photos.” A column “Retro Missionar” will present pre-war numbers of the magazine. The edition will also include an archives of all the numbers of the magazine starting from the first one and ending with the last one. (1897-1944).
The authors of the project, Olena Kovalska and Ihor Chava invite to cooperation clerics, active members of Christian organizations and historians.
